Immediate Needs
Our plans for the first 100 Days in office.
There are also immediate needs that the new officers must address, as well as ongoing projects that will be supported.
We will need to engage in a search for a new Executive Director, and to work with him or her to develop strong working relationships with the officers, directors, volunteers and entire membership.
We will also pay close attention to the organization’s financial health, and our technology capabilities.
- Financial Health
- Technology Capabilities
Over the past year, we have become increasingly aware of the importance of ensuring financial solvency, including having significant controls and procedures in place. The Board of Directors has taken important first steps by establishing Audit and Budget Committees. These are but first steps, however. As officers, we will take our fiduciary responsibilities seriously, and under the guidance of the treasurer will review not only budgets but also receipts and expenses on a regular basis. We will work with the national office and relevant committees and commissions to build realistic and balanced budgets that anticipate surprises; we will ensure transparency in the financial affairs of the organization.
A long-standing concern of the nominees, as it is of our membership, is the need to upgrade our technology capabilities. On-line registration is a promise unfulfilled; bringing it online will be one of our earliest and highest priorities. We also must not only explore the use of technology at our tournaments, including the use of projection systems and more efficient software, but see that it is implemented as soon as is practical.
